The historical county of Cheshire in North West England is one of the most beautiful parts of England. Originally a roman fort called Deva, Chester was a key battle fort and port against the Irish and Welsh. Following the Unificiation in the early 1600s, the town grew into a major trade route, and this continued until the Industrial Revolution, whereby the growth of Liverpool as a major shipping port, along with the silting of the River Dee, meant Chester's future as a maritime power was effectively over.
The Industrial Revolution brought with it instead something that helped shape Chester to what it is today - a rail network. With direct links from Liverpool, Manchester, Crewe and North Wales, Chester enjoyed growth as a place to escape from it all for residents of the heavy industrialised Liverpool and Manchester.
Today, Chester has grown to a small yet bustling and unique city, well worth a day visit especially if you're into your Histroy, as there is a story to tell from every age and conquest since the Romans.
Cheshire is also generally considered to be a very affluent area, with a number of extravagent houses belonging to millionaires. As such, the area is home to a number of successful businesses. Many of which are located in this directory.
